NEW SEASON 2018
GREEN MAINTENANCE WORK APRIL – MAY 2018
Due to the poor weather throughout March and April causing waterlogging of the greens, the Derby University greens staff have been unable to carry out much of their pre-season maintenance work on the greens.
WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT GREEN NO. 1 NEAREST TO THE CLUBHOUSE AND BUILDINGS WILL BE CLOSED FROM MONDAY 30th APRIL AND WILL REOPEN ON TUESDAY 29th MAY 2018 FOR THE FOLLOWING WORK TO BE UNDERTAKEN.
Monday 30th April
|Weed, feed and moss treatment will be applied|
|Friday 11th/Monday 14th May||Light scarification in both directions, over seeding and application of fertiliser|
Wednesday 16th May
|Set up mobile sprinkler system for watering in by DWEBC personnel|
|Thursday 17th May (am)||Mow both greens for fixtures on 17th, 19th & 20th May|
|Green to be rested after the above fixtures to allow recovery time|
|Tuesday 29th May||No.1 green will be available for use again|
It is unfortunate, but the weather always dictates our game, and the above timescale of works will obviously still be dependent upon the weather.
GREEN NO.2 WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THIS PERIOD for ALL casual bowling, competitions and league bowling
For and on behalf of the Management Committee
Secretary, Derby West End Bowls Club
Yours sincerely Martin Barke
